Set up Windows Live Mail for the first time

This section provides easy, step-by-step instructions to configure Windows Live Mail for the first time.

What you need before you start


In order to setup your email program on your computer or mobile device, you will need the following email settings.

Incoming mail settings:

 POP: pop.fibreop.ca
 Port: You can keep your program set to the default ports.
 Authentication: Username and password

Outgoing mail settings:

 SMTP:

smtp.fibreop.ca

Note: If you are attempting to access your email while over Bell Mobility's Network, you need to use Bell's outgoing mailserver (mail.1xbell.ca)

 Port: 2225
 Authentication Requires authentication, it must be configured in client (same account username and password as POP).

  • Your FibreOP e-mail address and password. If you do not know your FibreOP e-mail address or password, contact us at 1-866-342-7367.


Follow these easy steps

  1. Launch Windows Live Mail
  2. Enter the following information to continue;

    1. Email Address:
    2. Password:
    3. Remember Password: place a check mark in this box if you want Windows Live Mail to save your password
    4. Display Name:
    5. Place a check in Manually configure server settings for e-mail account
    6. Click Next to continue



  3. Enter the following information:

    1. The 'Incoming email server type:' should be set as POP3.
    2. Incoming Server: pop.fibreop.ca
    3. Port: leave default
    4. Login ID: Enter in your username
    5. Outgoing Server: smtp.fibreop.ca
    6. Port: 2225
    7. Check My outgoing server requires authentication
    8. Click Next to continue




  4. Click Finish.
